Hello,
my dear readers! I am Anna Schuberg, the writer of the every week column “Strong
Relations”. Today I’d like to discuss a famous story of
classic literature you may know. Let us remember the great novel of
Turgenev “On the Eve”- it reminds you the plot. One can

heroes of the novel are a girl from noble family Elena and brave man
Insarov. Insarov is a brave, strong person. From the very beginning
of the story he appears as a reserved, silent and even gloomy person,
but later we find out that he is concerned about his motherland destiny
in such difficult time Crimean War. Elena sacrifices her life, her
family following her husband in Bulgaria. Unfortunately, the trip to
Bulgaria appears to be very hard, Insarov becomes ill and dies in torments.
Elena desperately fights for her husbands life-work. This is an example,
I think, of the greatest sacrifice in the name of love ever written
in classic literature! The decision Elena makes means she refuses from
normal life, her intimates, her friends, her family! And this is the
story that couldn’t have ended another way! We can’t imagine
Elena returns home to her life before Insarov because she gave all
of her to this feeling, to love; this is the point of her living!
It’s become very interesting to me to find out what makes people
to renounce their own personal selfish desires for the sake of other
people? And many of us replied they didn’t feel they sacrifice
something they just took pleasure supporting their lover whatever they
do even if it means to refuse from something meaningful and important
in their life. Some of us say they are incapable of love that concerns
sacrifice of something valuable for them.
Well, I’d like to ask you, my dear readers: What would you do for
love? Maybe you would even tell us your love story: where you met your
fortune, what sacrifices you are ready for your lover? You may also name
other impressing examples from classic or modern literature you want
to discuss in the next time.
